Fergal Buttimer – Chief Executive Officer
Fergal is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of Buttimer Engineering, having taken over the reigns following the retirement of his father Eddie in 2012. Since then Fergal has been overseeing operations from Buttimer Engineering’s headquarters in Cahir, Co. Tipperary whilst frequently visiting our subsidiaries in the UK and Poland.
Having graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fergal joined Buttimer Engineering in 2001.
By 2005, Fergal was the head of operations in Buttimer Engineering’s recently opened Polish office, situated just outside the Polish capital of Warsaw. As the company flourished in Europe, Fergal returned to Tipperary in 2012 where he has seen the company expand significantly in recent years, to the thriving international business it is today.
Michael Murphy – Engineering Director
Michael is a Mechanical Engineering graduate of the University of Limerick. He has been with Buttimer Engineering for over 25 years, in various engineering and project management roles. In that time, he has built up a vast knowledge across a broad range of industries.
Having joined Buttimer Engineering in 1992 as a Project Manager, he was appointed Contracts Director in 2014, and moved to the Engineering Director role in 2023.
Denis O'Shea – Production Manager
Denis has over 25 years’ experience in the Quality and Supply Chain Management field, first gaining a diploma from the Irish Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management before receiving his diploma in Supply Chain Management from UCC.
Having joined Buttimer Engineering in 1989 as purchasing manager, Denis has worked in a number of different roles such as Quality Manager and Estimation Manager, before being named Production Manager.
Cian Corbett – Operations / Contracts Coordinator
Cian is a Operations / Contracts Coordinator with direct responsibility for project oversight on behalf of the CEO, governance, project auditing, development of processes / procedures and ensuring operational uniformity between our offices & sites in the Ireland, UK and Poland.
Cian has previously held roles with EirGrid Plc managing electrical transmission projects in Ireland and with SNC Lavalin Group and SEPAM Group managing oil and gas projects in Saudi Arabia and Oman. Cian has been awarded an honours degree in Construction Management & Engineering from the University of Limerick, CPD Certificate in Professional Engineering from DIT, Project Management Professional (PMP) status and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) status from the Project Management Institute (PMI) as well as holding membership of the Institute of Engineers Ireland (MIEI).
Sean O'Sullivan – Technical & Innovation Director
Sean is Buttimer Engineering’s senior engineer having been with the company for a number of decades. Having graduated from the University of Limerick with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Sean went on to become a lecturer in UL for a number of years before joining Buttimer Engineering. Since then, Sean has become an integral part of the company with experience in designing, managing and subsequently successfully delivering many complex projects both nationally and internationally.
Sean’s expertise has meant that he is recognised as one of the countries top engineers, being a Chartered Mechanical Engineer (C. Eng) as well as a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers in Ireland (M.I.E.I). Sean’s wealth of experience and proven track record has been and continues to be an essential part of Buttimer Engineering’s growth.
Declan McGrath – Sales Director
Declan is an experienced manager responsible for Sales and Business Development at Buttimer Engineering. With over 20 years Senior Management experience across Civil, Environmental, Renewable Energy, M&E and Industrial sectors, Declan has wide ranging knowledge including, Project Delivery, Business Operations & Development, Sales & Commercial Management, with global commercial experience across dispersed geographic regions. Declan initially graduated with a Construction Studies Degree, and this was later followed with a Masters at Ulster University Business School.
