The Design team at Buttimer Engineering is concerned with all pre-installation feasibility, layout and detailed design, as well as required performance or equipment specification for a project.
The team of experienced engineers has worked with clients on projects ranging from small one-off, problem solving consulting to full turnkey projects developed from conceptual design to operation. The team work closely with the Project Delivery team to provide design and engineering expertise to every client. Buttimer Engineering specialise in bulk materials handling design, and regularly deliver systems for handling grains, biomass, wood-chip, iron ore, coal, ash and other agri or mineral commodities. Buttimer Engineering’s Fabrication team carry out all in-house fabrication to support on-site installation projects, as well as fabricating vessels, tanks and miscellaneous equipment for our clients.
Co-ordinated by the Project Delivery team, the fabrication team operate our 3,000 square meter facility – on-site at our headquarters in Cahir, Co. Tipperary, Ireland – as well as a number of other manufacturing, storage and external facilities.
The workshop produces a range of steel items, which has in the past included pedestrian bridges, pressure vessels, mixers, conveyors, road sign gantries, hoppers, coffee sorters and much more. The Fabrication team, draws on the detailed capabilities of the Design team, combining a comprehensive knowledge of the end user’s process or project with a versatile and high-quality fabrication facility. In this way, our customers can be confident that Buttimer Enginerring will design the right solution to manufacture to the appropriate ISO, BE or any other quality standard.
Buttimer Engineering also has extensive manufacturing facilities in Poland where we can operate a 2000 square meter facility for a high-quality steel fabrication.

Buttimer Engineering’s Specialist Labour team is located on-site with our clients to carry out maintenance, installation, commissioning, repairs, operations or a variety of other specialist tasks.
Our on-site teams can facilitate both short-term and long-term contracts, such as an emergency repair job or an extended operations and maintenance arrangement at a client’s facility. Frequently Buttimer Engineering’s Specialist Labour teams are used in the delivery of full turnkey greenfield or brownfield installation projects and are often retained to facilitate commissioning and start-up of the new or upgraded facility.
From power generation, to food and beverage handling facilities, mining to medical devices, our expert teams are selected to provide clients with people of the correct training, know-how and experience to deliver reliable, safe and effective on-site services. Buttimer Engineering’s teams can operate in either a project management or facilitating role and have worked with many of the large contractors across Ireland, the UK and Poland.
