About The Project

Buttimer Engineering was employed by Indaver, an international waste to energy company, to design, fabricate, procure, install and commission the ash handling systems for the first waste to energy incinerator plant built in the Republic of Ireland.
Located some 40 kilometres north of Dublin, it began delivering electricity to the city’s grid in November 2011.
Scope of Work:

  • Complete ash handling – both boiler ash and bottom ash
  • Size, design, fabricate and install all handling equipment including belt conveyors and also chain conveyors
  • Design, fabricate, supply and install all support steelwork, walkways, platforms and all other necessary secondary steelwork
  • Design, fabricate, supply and install all storage hoppers
  • Installation of trace heating systems on hoppers
  • Design, supply and installation of electrical supply to our scope
  • Design input into control systems
  • Supply and installation of carrier screens and vibration tables
  • Supply and installation of Lump Breaking System
  • Design, supply and installation of out-loading system including conveyor and bellows
  • Supply and installation of rotary valves to seal boilers
  • Supply and installation of all sieves and vibrating conveyors
  • Design, supply and installation of specialist conveyor system to cool down the hot ash from 600°c
  • Aeration of Silos
  • Supply and installation of compressed air
  • Supply and installation of ash handling elevator
